Booking hotel in Baku for Eurovision 2012 | Accommodation in Azerbaijan hotels
Securing accommodation in Baku seems to be the serious challenge for
Eurovision fans. Most modest calculations suggest that there would be
around 30,000 guests that would need to be accommodated during the
Eurovision week. Taking into account that daily capacity of all Baku
hotels is 12,000-13,000 (or 15-17,000 if they manage to open several 5*
hotels by that time – but who needs such expensive hotels is another
question) there is obvious deficit of hotel places anyway. Public sector
accommodation might be a solution, but this is quite unrealistic to
control situation there and offer any decent solution.
Securing
a hotel place in our opinion would be the most serious challenge for
song contest fans. So, early bookings are highly highly recommended. On
the other hand, all bookings for Baku hotels are not possible at the
moment, since Ministry of Tourism of Azerbaijan recommended all Baku
hotels to place a total block on eurovision week. It’s not clear what is
their idea: to make some sort of centralised booking system or smth.
else, but in the result no bookings are possible and hotels themselves
do not know when and in what direction the situation will change.
Room
rates will also obviously sky rocket, with hotels calculating at the
moment how much to charge foreign guests. We are in routine contact with
most of Baku hotels and as soon as we have updated rates information we
will place it on our site. We have a vast list of Baku hotels, just
check the bottom of the frontpage. You can place a hotel booking
request at the relevant hotel’s page. As soon as we get your request we
check with the hotel availability, confirm rates and send you
availability conformation along with the invoice. If no places available
we will make suggestions for similar type accommodation.
As an alternative to hotel accommodation we can suggest staying in furnished apartments. This option would be more cost effective for those travelling in groups (at least 3-4 pax). We have a limited number of landlords that we are working with for quite a while. Just send us your request to check whether we have any vacancies.
DO NOT RELY
on your luck to find a place to stay after your arrival. You might end up
sleeping under the open sky (which might do though if you are young and not
fussy). Temperatures are around 25-27 in the end of May.
So the first hotel that had made prices available for the Eurovision week is Old CityInn hotel. Detailed info is available at the link above, here are just rates
Single Room -265 USD (6 rooms)
Double Room -300 USD (5 rooms)
Twin Room - 310 USD (2 rooms)
King Twin - 310 USD (2 rooms of larger size)
For reservations 50% deposit is required to be paid upfront. Cancellation policy: before May 1 no charges at all, later cancellations will make deposit non-refundable.
