Number of Tourists in Azerbaijan’s Sheki Region Doubles
Azerbaijan, Sheki / corr E. Huliyev / The number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan’s Sheki region doubled compared to 2006, according to Sheki-Zagatala Regional Department of the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry.

Daily expenses of tourists spending their summer holidays in Sheki are between AZN 40-250.

The increase in the number of tourists is due to Sheki joining the international tourist route, according to the department. There are 26 leisure resorts in Sheki.

Sheki’s tourist potential is not used to its full potential, for the tourism infrastructure there does not match world standards, the head of Aile Tourism Association, Farhad Azizov, said.

Sheki is located 320km north-west of Baku.
