Azerbaijan draws India to develop tourism, light industry and textile industry
Business Forum "Investments & Doing Business in India" is taking place in Baku today.
Addressing to the forum deputy head of the Ministry of Economic Development’s Department of Business Development Policy, Huseyn Pashayev, has stated that although two countries’ trade is mainly associated with Azeri oil export to India, there is also potential for development of links in the non-oil sector.
"India has rich practice of in the area of tourism, light industry and textiles. These industries of the economy in Azerbaijan began to develop only recently, and we are ready to attract India to their development," Pashayev said.
In turn, the Indian ambassador to Azerbaijan Debnat Shaw claimed that his country was seeking to expand exports of traditional Indian products to Azerbaijan - tea, pharmaceutical products and clothes.
"Lately, supplies of Indian engineering and finished products to Azerbaijan have increased. We are striving to realize the potential of economic cooperation for development of Azerbaijan’s investments in India and vice versa," he said.
