At present, there is not river tourism in Azerbaijan, but using the Kur River, it is possible to create river tourism in the country, the chairman of the Center for Regional Development of Azerbaijan, Chingiz Ismayilov.
He said the Kur River flows through the country from west to east, so the use of this river for travel in the country would be very interesting. By traveling on this river, people can see the natural diversity, including the riparian forests.
Ismayilov said for the development of river tourism, above all, it is necessary to carry out the necessary technical work around the riverbed of the Kur River, certain areas of the river should be deepened. These activities require large amounts of funds. But if they are carried out conditions will be created for the river tourism development in Azerbaijan, and also flooding in the rivers will be prevented.
Ismayilov stressed the development of river tourism will promote economic development of cities and regions along the Kur River, increase revenues of municipalities and create new jobs.
