Azerbaijan is the main partner of European Union in South Caucasus
Azerbaijan is the main partner of the European Union in South Caucasus. This idea was voiced by Andreas Shider, Secretary of State of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance, at panel discussion of Austria-Azerbaijan Trade Chamber in Vienna.
Addressing the conference on theme “Developing South Caucasus region – opportunities for Azerbaijan, Austria and Europe”, Shider said that due to the rich natural resources and strategic location, Azerbaijan is a region of great importance for Europe.
Thus, in 2009, Azerbaijan provided 90% of the South Caucasus's export to the EU. Taking into account these factors, Austria focuses a special attention on Azerbaijan.
