At the end of the year, growth in the tourism industry in Azerbaijan will amount to 10-15 percent, compared to the previous year, said Thursday the Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev.
Our growth rate in line with expectations in terms of growth of the World Tourism Organization and even to exceed them," - said Garayev.
As a result of six months, growth in the tourism sector amounted to 13.5 percent, compared with the last year.
"This is a good figure and we are working on it. I believe that we will maintain this level of growth in the future" - said the minister.
According to him, the priority regions in terms of attracting tourists are in Europe and Asia.
"We plan to increase the flow of tourists from the Gulf and the Far East, i.e. China, Korea and Japan. Tourist flows from these countries are very important to us," - said Garayev.
According to him, the share of domestic tourism in Azerbaijan is higher than the share of foreign tourism. Indicators of the summer season for domestic tourism exceeded the same period last year by 25 percent.
This year in Azerbaijan about 20 new travel agencies were established. At today's market of the country 230 companies are licensed to work in tourism, the minister said.
