This year Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan has licensed 30 travel agencies out of which 20 were new ones and liquidated 28 travel agencies.
According to minister Abulfaz Garayev a number of foreign visitors to Azerbaijan for the first 6 months of 2010 reached 885 459 people that is 13% more than in the same period last year. «In year 2009 a number of foreign visitors to Azerbaijan was 1 830 367, out of which 1 429 825 were tourists ».
According to Garayev there are currently 477 hotels in Azerbaijan compared to 452 in 2009. «Occupancy level in hotels in northern region this week was around 60-70%, over the weekend - 100%, in northern-west region those numbers were 50-60% and 100% consequently, and in southern region 40-50% and 80%».
The rates in hotels in Northern region vary from 10-130 AZN per person, in north-west region 15-80 AZN, in souther region 15-70 AZN. Prices vary depending on hotel category».
