Koreans got interested in Azerbaijan
National TV channel from South Korea shot a film about Azerbaijan. A TV crew from EBS channel visited Azerbaijan with the support of Azeri embassy in South Korea from September 25 to October 15. Korean crew shot a 4 series documentary about Azeri nation, its culture, historical monuments and tourist attractions.
The first part titled ‘Nations of Caucasus’ covers national minorities residing in northern parts of Azerbaijan. South Korean viewers will learn about Quba and Xynalig - the highest mountainous settlement in Azerbaijan.

The second part named ‘The glorious heritage of Silk Road’ will show Lagich and Sheki that were one on the major trade stops on Silk Road. Both cities were famous for talented craftsmen and the film will give more details on ancient brass objects, brass carving techniques as well as other applied arts of Azerbaijan. Also some details will be given about Icheri Sheher which is in UNESCO’s list of world cultural heritage. 

Third part – ‘Eternal Flame of Baku’ will reveal to Korean viewers oil history of our country, how and when industrial oil production started here, about such places as Yanar Dag and Ateshgah, and that the birthplace of Zoroastrianism were not Iran or India as many think but Azerbaijan. Further they will learn about Shehidlar Hiyabany – eternal flame monument in Baku dedicated to those who died defending Azerbaijan. Some facts will be given about Armenian occupation of Azeri lands, about long term dispute between countries over the status of Karabakh region, about refugees that had to flee due to Armenian aggression. 

The last series – ‘The land before history started’- is about petroglyphes in Gobustan, and ancient stone age civilization living there. Fourth part will demonstrate mud volcanoes – which is one of the natural wonders that could be found only in Azerbaijan. In the end a short excursion will be taken to Lankaran on the Caspian sea coast and to Lerik settlement famous for its long-livers.
