Millions of Indian tourists could visit Azerbaijan

India made some suggestion to Azeri government to promote cooperation in tourist industry, said Indian ambassador Debnat Shau. There a lot of places in Azerbaijan that might appeal tourists from India, said ambassador. This is a fire worshippers temple in Ateshgah, some Muslim architectural monuments, etc. Millions of Muslim tourists from India visit Dubai. This could be the case for Azerbaijan as well. The only problem is that there is no direct air flight between our countries.

Indian ambassador said that they sent new proposals to Azerbaijan Airlines management in order to organize direct flight between our countries.

Baku Travel Services would also need to stress that apart of problem of no direct flight the visa regime between our countries could also be a serious obstacle to Indian tourists. Indian tourists need to obtain Azerbaijan visa in advance in one of Azeri embassies abroad. The option of getting visa in Baku airport upon arrival is not available to them, since this option is only for passport-holders of developed countries. For tourist visa Indian tourist will need to get a letter of invitation from tourist company in Azerbaijan, that might charge for their visa support up to 300 USD apart from the visa fee charges in the embassy.

Besides, air ticket between our countries will be quite expensive. This is an enormous sum for Indian tourists who would need to spend around 1000 USD just for visa and air tickets. Add on top of that high room rates in Baku hotels and you would not be surprised why there are so few tourists in Azerbaijan from India.
